A 14-year-old Palm Coast girl is accused of trying to poison her mother by mixing a cocktail with prescription medication, according to a Flagler County Sheriff’s report.
No charges have been filed. Investigators are awaiting a lab analysis of the concoction.
The girl was apparently angry with her mother for telling police that she was having an affair with an adult man and possibly pregnant by him. Relatives heard the girl say her mother was going to die tonight,” according to a sheriff’s report released Tuesday.
On the night of Sept. 20, the 50-year-old mother said she could hear her daughter opening bottles and smashing pills in the kitchen of their home in northeast Palm Coast.
The girl presented her mother with a “Key lime” flavored beverage. The mother refused the drink because of suspicion over her daughter’s unusual behavior, the report stated.
The mother went into the kitchen and found an empty pack of Zoloft, an anti-depression drug, in the garbage can. The mother placed the cocktail in the refrigerator before calling authorities.
