A 38-year-old man who threatened to hurt himself was taken into custody after a three-hour standoff with police at his home on Obey Street.
The man surrendered peacefully to police about 10:20 p.m. after they fired tear gas into his home. Police said that he had been armed with a handgun.
He was taken to Mercy Behavioral Health for observation.
The incident around 7 p.m. after police were notified the man was in his house and was threatening to hurt himself and was tearing up his home. Police said he was severely depressed and had taken a large amount of prescription medication.
