Man arrested for attempted kidnapping

SOUTH YARMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston) – A South Yarmouth man was arrested for the attempted kidnapping his girlfriend in South Yarmouth.
Yarmouth police say Sunday afternoon the department was notified of an armed man who had attempted to kidnap his girlfriend in the area of the Town Quick Mart at 1047 Route 28 in South Yarmouth. The man was identified as 55-year-old Emiliano Trapiell Dominatto, of South Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers arrived in the area and found the female victim who reported that her boyfriend who was the subject of an active protection order had just pointed a handgun at her and tried to force her into his vehicle. The victim was able to run off and enter the Quick Mart store and hide behind the counter.
Police say Dominatto entered the store and was encountered by the store manager and a co-worker who stood by the victim and the suspect turned around and fled. A team of Yarmouth Police Officers sealed the immediate area and attempted to find Dominatto. Yarmouth Police K9 Patrol Officer Michael Kramer and his partner Kosmo arrived in the area and conducted a search, but were unable to find Dominatto.
Yarmouth Police Detective Stephen Renzi was called in for assistance and with the assistance of Yarmouth Police Patrol Sergeant John K. Fallon, began an intense follow-up investigation which included a high suicide risk determination and a criminal history check that revealed a violent history of previous domestic violence attacks involving a knife, protective order violations, and a previous kidnapping attempt.
At around 5:38 p.m., Yarmouth Police Patrol K9 Patrol Officer Mark Thibeault and his partner Kobi spotted the suspect vehiclea 1995 green Ford Taurus station wagontravelling eastbound on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. The vehicle pulled into a West Yarmouth Motel parking lot and come to a stop in the rear lot. K9 Patrol Officer Thibeault and Kobi exited their cruiser and initiated a high-risk vehicle stop. The suspect did not comply and drove off to the southwest corner of the lot where he was blocked in by Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Gordon Gibbons and Diana Wells. The suspect was subsequently ordered out of his vehicle at gun point and taken into custody.
During the booking process at Yarmouth Police Headquarters, police say Dominatto admitted that he was suicidal and had taken a large amount of anti-depression medication. He was taken under mutual aid assistance by a Hyannis Fire Department ambulance team to Cape CodHospital where he was evaluated and treated. Later in the evening he was returned to Yarmouth Police headquartersheld under high risk guard overnightand transported to the Barnstable District Court this morning for arraignment.
Dominatto was charged with two counts of Violation of a Protection Order; Felony Assault while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon; Felony Attempt to Commit Kidnapping.
