According to officials, police were alerted after the middle school conducted its own investigation. Authorities said eighth-graders were allegedly selling the prescription drugs Adderall and Lexapro.
“These drugs are prescription drugs. They’re highly dangerous when they’re taken without being monitored by a physician. They’re illegal to take if they’re not prescribed by a physician and they’re considered as illegal as any other drug that a child could take,” Jennifer Mioduszewski of the Bayside Police Department said.
No official charges have been made yet. However, police said one charge that could be made is for selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.
