Ammanford man beat up lesbian couple 'to help his mum'

AN Ammanford man has been jailed for beating up a lesbian couple who he accused of taking advantage of his mother.
Dennis Daniel Morris, from Tircoed Road, Glanaman, was in breach of a restraining order when he approached the victims at a property in Cwmaman Road, Ammanford, on August 13.
The 59-year-old, who pleaded guilty to that charge and two more of affray and using violence to enter the property, had taken a cocktail of vodka and anti-depressants before approaching the property.
Prosecuting at Llanelli magistrates' court, Sian Vaughan said: "At approximately 7.30pm on the night in question, the victims Miss Patience, Miss Hare and the defendant's mother were having tea and coffee and playing cards when they heard Mr Morris bang on the door."
The court heard how Morris had previously been imposed with a restraining order against the victims, understood to be a gay couple in their 50s, because he felt they were trying to extort money from his frail elderly mother.
The defendant, his mother's sole carer, accused the pair of only showing her any friendship when they needed money.
Ms Vaughan added: "Miss Patience tried to kick Mr Morris in the genitals but missed.
"At that point he put his arms around her throat and was shouting and screaming."
The court heard how police officers arrived at the scene and sat on the defendant to restrain him.
Between them, the victims suffered redness to the neck and face, back pain and a swollen knee.
Magistrates sentenced Morris to a total of 20 weeks imprisonment, 12 for a breach of the restraining order and eight more for affray.
For the charge of using violence to enter the house he received a further four weeks to run concurrently.
