AFTER an argument, Gavin Young threw a beer bottle at Matthew Saundry’s laptop computer causing damage so extensive it was cheaper to buy a new one.

Young, 33, of Union Street, Camborne, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates’ Court to criminal damage.

He told the police he had been on medication for depression at the time when he had four pints of lager and felt that had created a bad reaction.

He accepted he had been behaving in a rowdy manner at Mr Saundry’s flat which had led to the argument between them.

He had previous convictions.

Young was given a conditional discharge for 18 months and was ordered to pay compensation of £455, the cost of a new laptop.
