A 59-year-old Portland man in Seattle on business fell to his death from a ninth-floor window of the Mayflower Park Hotel early Sunday.

Seattle police said a passer-by saw him fall from the window of the hotel at 405 Olive Way at 1:21 a.m.

The man, identified by the King County Medical Examiner as Dennis Andersen, was staying at the hotel on business. Police say they found an empty bottle of champagne, soaking wet bed linen, a tipped-over ice bucket and lamp in his room, and a tray of food. Bottles of anti-depressants and painkillers were found in his luggage.

A co-worker, who saw the man the day before, told police the man always seemed to be in a good mood, although he had been troubled about his mother’s death and was suffering from neck and arm injuries.
