SHALER, Pa. — Police said a 7-year-old girl called her grandmother shortly before the girl, her mother and infant sister were fatally shot by the woman’s boyfriend in Shaler Township late Sunday night.
Quinn Gasparre called her grandmother Sunday night to say her mother’s live-in boyfriend, Barry Hardesty, 43, was making threats, investigators said. A short time later police said he executed the woman and both girls before turning the gun on himself.
When emergency personnel arrived at the scene along Beulah Street, they found Quinn Gasparre dead in a hallway. Her mother, Lynette Gasparre, 38, and the woman’s 1-year-old daughter with Hardesty, Nina, were found dead in a bedroom. Each had been shot in the head.
Channel 11 News spoke with Hardesty’s daughter, Alexis, who said there were arguments in the house but she never saw a violent side to her father.
“I love my dad, and I’m just in complete shock,” Alexis Hardesty said. “I feel terrible for everyone, like Lynn’s family and everybody. I’m sorry. I don’t have any answers.”
Alexis said her father was taking medication for depression, but police still haven’t determined a motive in the killings.
