A 29-year-old Brunswick man accused of beating his mother with a hammer, suffocating her with a pillow and concealing her body in a closet for seven days pleaded innocent to murder Wednesday.
Police say Darren S. Moore admitted killing his mother during an interview soon after the discovery of Lucille M. Moore’s body in the Dunlap Street apartment they shared.
He said he attacked his 62-year-old mother after growing increasingly aggravated toward her “frequent criticisms,” according to court records.
Moore, who has a history of psychiatric problems and was on the anti-depressant Prozac at the time of the killing, remains held with no bail in Cumberland County Jail.
