Man gets 15 years for threats with gun — (St Louis Post-Dispatch)

A St. Peters man who police say pulled a gun on his girlfriend and her teenage niece and nephew on the way home from a Cardinals game in August last year got 15 years in prison for seven felony charges at a hearing Friday in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

James “Rocky” Myers, 48, of the 700 block of Garden Bounty Drive, got concurrent sentences of seven years on each of three counts of felonious restraint, 15 years on each of three counts of armed criminal action and four years on one count of unlawful use of a weapon. Judge William Lohmar had previously found him guilty in a bench trial.

Myers, a supermarket manager, had no history of violence and behaved irrationally that night as a side effect of the anti-depressant Paxil, his attorney, Robert Metzler, argued.

Myers threatened to kill the woman and her niece and nephew, ages 14 and 16, and jabbed a 9 mm handgun into the woman’s neck and side and shot the gun out the window, police said.

On Friday, Myers’ family asked the judge for leniency and Myers apologized to the woman and her family, saying he didn’t mean to harm anyone.
