GETTYSBURG, Pa. — A woman who worked in Frederick and helped raise money for Hospice of Frederick County was shot to death by her husband of six months, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
As a manager of the Thomas Scott Salon & Spa on the Golden Mile, Gwen Josey Rynard, 44, of Gettysburg, helped raise money for hospice over the years, said Laurel Cucchi, director of Hospice of Frederick County. Her family listed her obituary as Gwen J. McLaughlin.
“The people at the Thomas Scott Salon are wonderful people, they’re like a family,” Ms. Cucchi said. “They adopted hospice years ago and raised money by organizing fashion shows and other fund-raisers. They are a tremendous group of people. I can’t imagine what they are going through.”
An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa., a news release stated.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested Todd Michael Rynard, 39, in the shooting that occurred about 11:50 p.m. Thursday at the couple’s residence on Hood Drive in Adams County, Pa., according to police.
“The accused shot the deceased twice with a shotgun, resulting in her death,” a news release stated.
Mr. Rynard surrendered to police at the Gettysburg barrack and was charged with criminal homicide and possessing instruments of a crime, authorities said.
Mr. Rynard is being held without bail at the Adams County prison.
