WOODBRIDGE — Woodbridge police have surrounded the home of a Woodbridge resident they believe is suicidal and who has barricaded himself in, according to Woodbridge police.
The unidentified man had sent a text message to a friend indicating that he wanted to commit suicide at about 7:42 p.m., Woodbirdge Police Lt. Wayne Russo said today.
"The gentleman, who had been depressed all day and taking medication, texted a friend," said Russo. "He is threatening suicide by cop."
Police vehicles have blocked off the home on Demorest Avenue in the Avenel area of Woodbridge and have shut down the street between Wylie and Smith streets, neighbors said.
Area residents say police have been trying to reach the unidentified man through a loud speaker, but have not been able to reach him.
