STAND OFF : Members of the sheriff’s SWAT team rushed into a home north of Battle Ground early Saturday after a man allegedly took an overdose of pills and threatened to shoot anyone who entered his home.
The man, 41, was taken into custody and moved to a hospital, according to a sheriff’s report.
About 10:16 p.m. Friday, the report said, Deputy Daniel Fronk was sent to the man’s home in the 14000 block of Northeast 326th Street, several miles north of Battle Ground. A witness said the man drank heavily, took an overdose of antidepressant pills and fired a gunshot before a relative called 9-1-1.
The man, seen inside the home with a .25-caliber pistol, threatened to shoot anyone who came in and then shoot himself, the report said. Deputies called for the SWAT team, which arrived about 2 a.m. Saturday. About an hour later, after communications with the man failed, the SWAT officers rushed the home and found him passed out in the living room.
