A mother accused of shooting her daughter, an Eastern Michigan University student, two weeks ago in their Taylor home was ordered this week to stand trial on murder charges.

Sharon Radtke, 56, was bound over to circuit court on charges of first-degree murder and using a weapon to commit a felony, at the conclusion of her preliminary hearing Wednesday, Taylor Detective Anthony Chicko said.

Lisa Radtke, 23, was shot in the head on April 7. She had gone to her mother’s home that night to visit and do her laundry. The only witness to testify at the hearing Wednesday was Radtke’s mother, Bonita Hayes, who also lived in the home and said Sharon Radtke told her she shot her daughter.

Family members said Sharon Radtke recently lost her job and had not been able to afford her anti-depression medication. They said she feared the family would be homeless.

Lisa Radtke was expected to graduate from EMU this month with an urban planning degree. She worked part-time at the University of Michigan.

Sharon Radtke will be arraigned on the charges in circuit court next month.
