Troubled star Kerry Katona has revealed she takes anti-depressants in an effort to control her bipolar disorder.
The pregnant star revealed she takes Effexor every night to control the psychiatric condition, and put her bizarre appearance on GMTV down to the effects of the drug.
Kerry made headlines after she slurred her words and wrapped her arms around presenter Andrew Castle during an appearance on the morning program two weeks ago.
The former Atomic Kitten singer said: “I’m on a real low because I’m promoting my book Tough Love, and I’m sick to death of all these questions coming up about me being on drugs.”
“Yes I am on drugs. It’s my bipolar medication, it’s nothing else, I’m pregnant for God’s sake.
“The medication I take is called Effexor and it keeps me a on a level and sane – I’ve had to move onto this medication because I’m pregnant and it’s a drug that evens out my moods swings.”
She told OK! magazine: “I still have my up days and down days. I think the highs outweigh the lows.”
She continued: “When I was on GMTV, I was suffering from a bit of nerves but that also was to do with the fact that I haven’t done telly for so long.”
The 27-year-old is expecting her fourth child with husband Mark Croft.
Bizarre: Kerry says her erractic behaviour was due to the effects of Effexor
High energy: Kerry said she was just ‘hyperactive’ during her appearance two weeks ago
