Teenager falsely accused her partner, 40, of rape
By Jamie Buchan
A teenager who falsely accused her 40-year-old partner of rape admitted yesterday wasting police time.
Emily Metson told neighbours she had been sexually attacked by her then former boyfriend William Henderson.
Police were called to the 17-year-old’s home at 41 Clinton Drive, Sandhaven, and she was taken to Fraserburgh Police Station, where she told officers Mr Henderson had repeatedly forced her to have sex against her will.
The teenager, who has a young son and is pregnant again, was taken to Grampian Police’s HQ in Aberdeen for a medical examination.
Metson was moved into a safe house, arranged by social workers, while police investigating the claims visited her home and seized computer said to include indecent pictures of the couple.
Mr Henderson was also questioned by police and subjected to a medical examination, but was released later that day.
Metson appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted she had made up the accusations on November 14 last year.
Fiscal Eilidh Wright said the teenager had returned home to Mr Henderson and their relationship had resumed. She called police to their house and told them she wanted to withdraw her complaint.
Ms Wright said: “She told police that she had only said she was raped because she was in a bad mood because they had been arguing.”
Defence agent Gail Wiggins said: “She appreciates how serious this allegation was. She was suffering from post-natal depression and she was on antidepressants.
“It is fair to say that she wasn’t thinking straight,” she said.
Sheriff Marysia Lewis told Metson: “It is a disturbing case and a disturbing allegation.”
Metson was ordered to stay out of trouble until she comes back to court for sentencing on September 30.
