ONEONTA – Two Pennsylvania residents were arrested Wednesday after an alleged robbery in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

State police at Oneonta said a 26-year-old man reported that he had been robbed of a gold necklace at knifepoint in the store’s parking lot at about 5:30 p.m.

Troopers, assisted by a state Department of Environmental Conservation police officer, pulled over a vehicle in front of Lowe’s on state Route 23 matching the description of one that left the scene.

Matthew T. Dennis, 25, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., was charged with first-degree robbery, a class B violent felony.

Dennis and Megan T. Fitzpatrick, 21, of Greentown, Pa., were also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance outside its original container, a violation.

Troopers said the controlled substances were Suboxone and Lexapro, prescription medicines to treat painkiller dependency and depression.

Troopers said Dennis had recently been staying in the area with relatives.

Fitzpatrick was sent to Otsego County Jail on $500 bail/$1,000 bond, while Dennis was sent there on $15,000 bail/$30,000 bond.

They are to reappear at 9 a.m. Monday in Oneonta Town Court.
