A 37-YEAR-OLD woman who stole a packet of pills from a local pharmacy and left without paying has faced court.

Kerry Anne Smith pleaded guilty at Gladstone Magistrates Court yesterday to unauthorised dealing with shop goods.

Police Prosecutor Acting Senior Constable Troy Daubaras said Gladstone police were alerted and went to the pharmacy in Philip Street, Gladstone, about 2.30pm on February 27.

Act Sen Const Daubaras said Smith got a prescription filled and then walked around the store before putting them in to her pants and leaving without paying.

Smith’s lawyer Brad Krebs said his client suffered from depression and mixed her medication at the time, which caused her to be in a disoriented state.

Magistrate Mark Morrow put Smith on six months probation and ordered her to pay $114.95 compensation.

A conviction was not recorded.
